Keele University

Keele University in the UK is located on an estate with extensive lakes, forest, and parkland, formally owned by the Sneyd relations. The Sneyd family came into ownership of the Keele Estate in the mid-16th century. This area was owned by the Knights Templar, a medieval Military Order, Before the Sneyds. The first Keele Hall was built in the year 1580 and it was restructured in the year 1860. The hall has a Grade II listing from English Heritage for its architectural import. The University itself was recognized as the University College of North Staffordshire in the year 1949 and got its Charter as the University of Keele in the year 1962. Keele University celebrated its 73rd anniversary in the year 2022.

Academic Information

English Language is a must for reading and speaking. So your English language should compulsory strong.


Academic Schools within the University are organized within the three following faculties:

  • Faculty of Natural Sciences (Schools of Physical and Geographical Sciences, Computing and Mathematics, Psychology, Life Sciences)
  • Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine not available to exchange/student overseas students with the exception of Rehabilitation (Schools of Health and Rehabilitation, Midwifery and Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine)
  • Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (Schools of Humanities, Law, Political and Global Studies, Social, Keele Business School)

Program Load Needs: Students are needed to carry a full program load to meet UKBA visa necessities. A full course load is generally made up of four 15-credit modules or 30 ECTS per semester.

Application Method

Keele University’s application method is online and students will be given the link to the relevant application once the nomination has been complete. As part of the application method, students will be necessary to submit a multiplicity of documents which are most important if a Tier 4 visa issued by the UKVI is necessary. Standard application documents and details are as follows:

  • Exchange students Personal Statement as finished within the application process
  • Proof of English Language
  • IELTS rates 5 overall with no component less than 5.5 Passport copy
  • Transcript of Records (scanned copy is approved) Information of any previous UK visas
  • Study overseas students (i.e. home university does not have a formal agreement with Keele and tuition fees are valid)
  • ALL documents as above with the addition of a Nomination letter from the country university

Language Requirements

As teaching at Keele is in English, all students must be capable to prove they have enough level of English to be capable to cope with the program from the beginning. If they are a non-native English speaker, students will require submitting an appropriate English Language qualification or attend one of the university’s pre-seasonal English programs.

For study in UK and exchange Students’ Universities ask for IELTS marks of 5.5 overall with no component less than 5.5.

Course Registration Details

The module catalog is released every May for the upcoming academic year and outlines which modules are available to students and which semester they are being held. Keele outlines its modules as being level four, five, or six and this corresponds to First, Second or Third-year modules respectively.

Keele University will send a Module option Form to students when they have applied, which permits them to pre-register for their chosen program. Some of the modules may clash and different courses may require to be chosen when students arrive at Keele University. Courses are finalized during the first some days of the semester by meeting the Subject lecturers and Personal Tutor.
